Youngsters won't have even seen this of course - but back years ago old fashioned grocery stores often had a slogan on their windows 'Shop here where the meat is Frigidaire Fresh' !!!! Kernel 5.10.X - great fun for the unwary -although Arch Linux handles it as always via its dkms system. If you attempt to use VMWare on a Linux host these days there's always the (in fact 100% certainty) install / upgrade will fail on new Linux kernels with typical linux distros - due to some module or other failing to compile becuase of incompatible kernel / kernel headers or other nonsensical things.

VMWare was an innovator in its day -now over bloated and over priced and will surely go the way of KODAK, AGFA, ILFORD, FRIGIDAIRE and like another load of huge load of 'Household name brands of big corporations which have now gone into that that 'corporation in the Sky'. If you need sensible Virtualisation systems on home type PC's / LANS then I'd look at all the alternatives now to VMWare - even if you have HOME version of Windows -you can use VBOX (free) -not my favourite system but it does work and is free as well -works on HOME editions of Windows too.

I've entirely gone over to QEMU/KVM - far superior in every way and is FREE - VMWare are dropping the ball every which way at the moment - can't see them surviving the long haul - especially when huge cloud providers (e.g Microsoft AZURE, RedHAT - now part of IBM - and AMAZON Cloud - and a load of others) can provide sensible corporate Windows Virtual Desk infrastructure that actually works and is reliable. Ironically, I've moved a bunch of VMs over to Hyper-V because of that very feature missing.Hi there

VMware states that the feature is deprecated but it will remain through the lifetime of the version 16.x release. I guess that it wasn't just me that was bent about that feature being removed. In the new release of VMware workstation Pro (16.1.0), the previously removed feature 'Shared VMs' is back.
